DESCRIPTION:Americans now live longer than any previous generation. Going forward, years spent in retirement constitute the longest chapter in our lives. Discover how the American retirement landscape has evolved over the past 50 years and how it will change even more going forward. Gain a better understanding of why Americans are living longer, the health challenges they face, and the impact of steadily increasing healthcare costs during retirement. From there we explore the dynamic nature of retiree spending patterns and how they change over time, including the latest research on how much retirees will spend on healthcare. Even with the most realistic projections, out-of-pocket expenses and unanticipated health-related “curveballs” can radically impact retiree assets and comfort levels. Lastly, we address concerns over catastrophic healthcare expenditures and projected costs of long-term care and caregiving. It can be overwhelming for clients to absorb all this information, however, pathways exist to advance the conversation.
